Impersonating ER staffer gets teen a year of actually being an inmate
11/16/2012For Matthew Scheidt, playing doctor literally meant playing doctor. The Florida teen was sentenced to a year in jail Wednesday after he was convicted of impersonating a physician assistant in an emergency room in 2011, when he was 17 years old. Scheidt said the deceit began when he went to the Osceola Regional Medical Center to get a badge for his job as a clerk, but was accidentally given one as a physician assistant, and apparently just decided to roll with it. Scheidt admitted to working in the ER for weeks, changing bandages and IVs, helping with exams — even administering CPR on one occasion. In addition to jail time, Scheidt was also sentenced to one year's house arrest and eight years' probation. [Source]
