Bloomberg declares war on something really awful: Styrofoam
2/14/2013Still irate with Bloomberg for nixing your 32-ounce carbonated sugar rush? That's understandable, but only an environmental Grinch can oppose his latest target. Bloomberg is expected to declare war on plastic foam at his 12th and final State of the City address Thursday. In speech excerpts released early, the New York mayor calls the spongy stuff "virtually impossible to recycle ... something that we know is environmentally destructive and that may be hazardous to our health ... something that should go the way of lead paint." If Bloomberg gets his way, those squeaky white takeout boxes will be banned from Big Apple restaurants and stores, paving the way for classy Chinese food boxes and doggie bags to reign supreme again.
