Did the Aussies seriously just rename McDonald's?

McDonald's has done an exceptional job at bringing its menu to every pocket of the globe, serving up pretty much identical Big Macs from Shanghai to Sao Paulo. But the chain has never shown a deep interest in building distinct national identities — until now. Thirteen Aussie McDonald's will be temporarily rebranded as "Macca's" (its much-used Aussie nickname) in recognition of Australia Day, which is celebrated on Jan. 26. "Macca's" is the second-best-known "Australianism," behind "footy" — that only-in-Australia brand of Aussie-rules football. [Source]
