Shocker: Most people don't agree gang rushing shooters is a good idea
12/18/2012Writing for Newsweek, columnist Megan McArdle dismissed everyone else's suggestions on how to lower the death count in shooting tragedies and offered her own bit of advice. "I'd also like us to encourage people to gang rush shooters," she said, explaining that "even a guy with a very powerful weapon can be brought down by 8-12 unarmed bodies piling on him at once." McArdle's suicidal proposal was roundly condemned on Twitter, with Jonathan Chait of New York Magazine deeming it "the single worst solution to any problem I have ever seen offered in a major publication." Which is about all you can say in response to any idea that involves teachers and students tackling armed attackers. [Source]
