Woman arrested for outing undercover officer on Facebook

10/15/2012

Who is dumber: an undercover police officer with a public Facebook page or an angry citizen who outs him using his online profile? According to Mesquite, Texas, police, it's Option B. They arrested Melissa Walthall after she posted the officer's picture in retaliation for his testimony against her friend George Pickens in a drug trial. Pickens and his brother had found a photo of the cop on Facebook and then made garage-sale-style fliers that they planned to post around the neighborhood. They've both been arrested, along with Walthall. Despite standing by the outed officer, a Texas Municipal Police Association spokesman noted that "if [officers] don't want that information out there, don't have those accounts." And if you find one of those accounts, you should just leave it alone. [Source]
