Message in a bottle makes 75-mile trip—in 35 years
7/21/2012Sean Keown once tossed a message in a bottle into a river in Bellows Falls, Vermont -- and that bottle has finally turned up, 35 years later. The bottle washed up 75 miles away and was found by 14-year-old Justin Shepard, who tracked Keown down and will now get the note's promised reward – though Keown says he'll upgrade it to cash from the candy bar or soda he imagined would be the perfect payoff back in 1977. But the nostalgia ride has made it worth the extra price. "I was so excited," Keown says, "I actually called my parents." Now Keown hopes to reconnect with the long-lost childhood friend who sent his own message downstream that same day. [Source]
