Methuselah of goldfish is 120 (in fish years) and counting
6/17/2012Paul Palmer's goldfish may look young and shimmery, but inside he's a wise old man. Sharky, as he's called, was once a prize won by his British owner when Palmer was just 4 years old. His mother told him not to get attached since most goldfish don't live long; his sister's fish died within days, and every morning Palmer expected to find his pet belly up. Yet the little guy persisted, and as Paul moved into grade school, high school and then his 20s, Sharky stayed by his side -- even swimming back up the U bend after he was flushed down the toilet. The tenacious tiddler is now 24 years old (120 in goldfish years) and still happily swimming laps around the aquascape.
