Miami police officer has been fired for having one serious lead foot
9/15/2012Miami's most notorious speeding cop has been fired for clocking speeds of more than 100 mph in his cruiser while not on duty. Officer Fausto Lopez had been the subject of an internal affairs investigation after a state trooper pulled him over going more than 120 mph in October of 2011. He was finally given his termination notice this week and officially relieved of duty. In an investigation into police speeding, the Sun-Sentinel discovered that nearly 800 police officers in various agencies drove at speeds higher than 90 mph. The dismissal won't prevent Lopez from getting another job as a police officer as speeding is not reported to the state's commission on officers. [Source]
