Michael J. Fox shakes can for 9/11 charity day, cunningly makes $12M
9/12/2012Michael J. Fox spent 9/11 continuing his habit of being an all-round lovable guy. He spent the day helping raise $12 million for around 100 various charities via Cantor Fitzgerald's Charity Day, named for the firm that lost 658 staff in the World Trade Center attacks in 2001. In an interview before the event, Fox said he saw the anniversary as an opportunity to embrace life in the face of adversity: "This is not necessarily a somber event; I think this is more of a celebration, a celebration of humanity." In the interview, he gave a special "Family Ties" shout-out to the bread-heads that had put up cash in support. "Alex Keaton was the role model for so many of these guys, so maybe they had a special place in their hearts for me and my work." Guess it's true — there ain't no nothin' we can't love each other through. [Source]
