Man charged in inexplicable, horrific zoo-monkey murder

11/20/2012

Animals should feel safe in a zoo without worry of predators attacking, but deranged two-legged beasts sometimes enter and create havoc. Idaho police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into Zoo Boise early Saturday. A guard reported a burglary in progress, but those involved got away. Devastated employees found that one of the intruders had killed a patas monkey using "blunt force trauma to the head and neck." Michael J. Watkins, 22, now faces two felony charges, burglary and grand theft for a crime police say has "angered and outraged" the community. The zoo has one remaining patas monkey and is desperately seeking another to comfort the poor critter left on its own. [Source]
