Japanese town wants Michelangelo's David to put some pants on

Would Michelangelo's David look better in underpants? Some residents of Okuizumo, Japan, think so. A replica of the nude Renaissance sculpture and another of the Venus de Milo recently erected in a public park have sparked local concern. "They are statues of unclothed humans, and such pieces of artwork are very rare in our area," town official Yoji Morinaga said, noting some residents were concerned about the statues' impact on children. A movement is afoot to get David a pair of skivvies, to protect his modesty. We do hope they don't try to make the Venus de Milo wear a bra, though; it would be so hard to fasten without any arms.
