Michigan says bosses can't ask for workers' Facebook logins
12/29/2012Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation Friday that stops companies and colleges from asking workers and students for logins to their Facebook pages and other social media accounts. Lawmakers are high-fiving each other for their pro-privacy stance, though only one large employer has been criticized for trying to collect logins from potential employees. And that's the Maryland Department of Corrections. And it's not allowed to do that anymore. Still! Well done, Michigan politicians, for making the Wolverine State a safer place to check Facebook at work. Tough luck if you’re one of the 9.3 percent of Michiganders who don’t have a job, for whom this law does absolutely nothing. [Source]
