Michigan Supreme Court gives Detroit a choice to legalize pot
6/2/2012America has helplessly watched Detroit shrivel since the recession, but now the city may have found a foolproof way to get people to move to the Midwest metropolis. The Michigan Supreme Court is holding a vote on August 7 that will allow the city's residents to decide whether to legalize marijuana. Before you start packing your hemp duffle bags, there are some caveats: only an ounce, only on private property, only for people 21 and older. And its possible Detroit residents might vote no. But the city is having enough trouble keeping street lamps lit, let alone policing pot possession, so the measure is as practical as it is progressive.
Do you think legalizing pot would help Detroit?
