Huckabee says rape can result in 'extraordinary' people

Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is trying to minimize the damage done to the re-election campaign of Missouri Rep. Todd Akin, who said women don't easily get pregnant as a result of "legitimate rape." On his radio show today, Huckabee observed that sometimes "forcible rape" results in people who are "able to do extraordinary things." The ex-governor of Ark. cited late gospel singer Ethel Waters and televangelist James Robison, both of whom he said were the result of forcible rape, as examples of admirable human beings being born as the result of "horrible tragedies." Huckabee also, thankfully, said that he believed rape was inexcusable and indefensible. [Source]
