Missouri rep proposes law to make proposing gun control laws a felony
2/20/2013Missouri Congressman Mike Leara is serious about gun control — seriously opposed to it, that is. Leara sponsored a bill that will make it a class D felony for any member of the state General Assembly to introduce legislation "that further restricts an individual's right to bear arms." Missouri is not the first state trying to criminalize gun control; in January, Virginia approved a bill forbidding state agencies from helping the feds enforce gun control laws. And Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Wyoming have all said they plan to follow in Virginia’s footsteps. A class D felony is the lowest category of felony in Missouri, but it can still a sentence of up to four years in jail. A vote on Leara's bill is not yet scheduled. [Source]
