Official military uniforms allowed at gay pride parade
7/20/2012For the first time, the U.S. military is permitting personnel to participate in a gay pride event in uniform. A military-wide memo gave permission to service members to wear their uniforms in Saturday’s San Diego Gay Pride Parade. Military personnel took part in the San Diego event last year, but wore t-shirts adorned with the name of their service branch instead of their uniforms. The executive director of San Diego LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Pride, Dwayne Crenshaw, said: “San Diego Pride is honored to have the privilege of celebrating our country and our service members with dignity and respect.” [Source]
