What is the correct term for our youngest demographic? Is it Generation Y? Millennials? If you've read the latest round of depressing job news, it might as well be "baristas." Several surveys collected by Forbes magazine show that Millennials are "more likely to be employed in service industry jobs" and, as it seems increasingly likely that the American labor market might remain as depressed as that clerk at the Gap, a low-wage job (with earnings that fall below the poverty line) could become less an entry-level position and more a full-time career. According to the Economic Policy Institute, almost 30 percent of American workers could hold low-wage jobs in 2020. That's hard to swallow, even with a double shot of espresso. [Source]
