Million-dollar mad marathon mission: 52 races in 52 weeks

6/25/2012

Why would anybody want to climb Mount Everest? Because it's there. Why would anybody want to run a marathon every single week for 52 weeks? Because they're lunatics. Well, except in the case of Julie Weiss. She's trying to raise $1 million for medical research following the death of her father from pancreatic cancer. She just finished her 10th marathon and has already raised $100,000, so she might just reach that goal -- if her body doesn't fall apart in the process. Already, she believes she has a fractured foot and with so little recovery time between races, it's likely to get worse as she approaches the ultimate goal -- the LA Marathon in March. We wish her all the best and hope she gets the help she so clearly needs.
