Cozy, and illegal, Paris apartment measured less than 17 square feet
1/19/2013It's fun to think back to your first shoebox apartment and reminisce about how you ever managed to live in such a cramped place. But we bet it was still bigger than this Parisian apartment. A 50-year-old man in Paris who is only known as "Dominique" had been paying $442 a month to live in a 16.8-square-foot apartment (1.56 square meters) that featured a skylight and a slanted roof that made it impossible for a person to "stand correctly." The landlord is facing a court date as the legal minimum size for an apartment in Paris is 9 square meters. How did Dominique deal with his home's small size? "I come home. I go to bed," he said.
