Media says Romney staff charged them huge travel fees, ate their grub
12/18/2012Is the Romney campaign trying to rip off the media? Nine news outlets, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, have sent Romney's people a letter questioning "what appear to be exorbitant charges." Said charges were allegedly for food and other campaign-travel expenses, including a $745 per person fee for a vice presidential debate-viewing party, $812 for a "meal and a hold" (uh, what?) and ground transport exceeding $1,000 per day, which "far exceed typical expenses on the campaign trail." The organizations also grumbled that "the campaign’s paid staff frequently consumed the food and drinks ostensibly produced for the media." [Source]
