Romney stands by 'off the cuff' comments in leaked video

9/18/2012

Mitt Romney hastily arranged a press conference Monday night to address the leaked video that has provoked an online firestorm. The presidential wannabe stood by the comments he made in the clip, in which he characterized Obama supporters as people who "believe they are victims" and "pay no income tax," among other things — but he admitted the remarks were made "off the cuff" and "not elegantly stated." (Perhaps the understatement of the election.) "My campaign is about helping people take more responsibility and becoming employed again, particularly those who don't have work," Romney said, seeking to clarify what he said in the video. "This whole campaign is based on getting people jobs again, putting people back to work." [Source]
