MLB team creates fugliest throwback uniforms ever
6/21/2012 The Tampa Bay Rays didn't exist in 1979, but that didn't stop the team's marketing department from creating god-awful-ugly uniforms from that year for the upcoming "Turn Back the Clock" night. On June 30, the Rays will play against the Detroit Tigers, who will also wear their getups from that year (when, in fact, they actually existed). To help instill that authentic '70s feel, Earth, Wind & Fire will turn Tropicana Field into a boogie wonderland after the game.
We're not sure why they didn't simply go back to 1998, when the franchise was actually created. Maybe management didn't think the grunge look would translate well to the baseball diamond.
How ridiculous are these uniforms?
