A businessman sentenced to 15 years in prison for laundering money for the Italian mafia was released to home arrest 14 years early because he's allergic to prison food. Lawyers for Michele Aiello argued at an appeal hearing that their client was "intolerant to beans, peas, spinach and all other types of greens" that inmates were served, the Daily Mail reports. A spokesman for the maximum security prison in central Italy acknowledged the menu items like pasta with beans, rice with peas and minestrone were "mainly vegetable based."
