Somali pirate kingpin announces he's set a course for retirement
1/11/2013It’s hard out there for a pirate. The economic downturn has even affected gun-toting pirates that once plundered ships off the Somali coast. In fact, the piracy industry has tanked so badly that one of its big fish is getting out of the game. On Thursday, the notorious Somali pirate kingpin Mohamed Abdi Hassan, aka “Big Mouth,” announced at a press conference (yes, pirates hold press conferences in Somalia) that he was quitting piracy, saying he had renounced his hijacking ways, and is walking the plank into retirement.
