Monster goldfish found in Lake Tahoe will haunt your dreams
2/21/2013Massive goldfish up to 18 inches long have been breeding in Lake Tahoe and are said to be thriving in the lake's ecosystem. That's not exactly good news, though: Experts say that the fish-beasts were likely dumped in the lake by aquarium owners and could have a negative impact on the lake's native species. The creatures "eat a lot" and expel nutrients that promote algae growth. Scientists are scrambling to catch the critters so they can study them in the lab. In the meantime — watch your back, salmon.
