Israeli sniper slammed for photo showing Palestinian boy in crosshairs2/19/2013
Israel’s presence in the West Bank is, to say the least, complicated. And controversial. And it takes little provocation to inflame a perpetually fiery diplomatic situation. So when a young Israeli soldier exercises horrible decision-making via social media, all the hot buttons get pushed at once. That’s exactly what happened when 20-year-old Mor Ostrovski, a sniper in the Israel Defense Forces, posted an image to his Instagram account that appeared to show a Palestinian boy in the crosshairs of his sniper rifle. The photo went viral, and things got really testy, really fast. The IDF condemned the photo, saying it "doesn't accord with the IDF's spirits and values," and Ostrovski, who said he found the photo but did not take it, closed his Instagram account. [Source]
