More teen boys are acting ‘like girls’ about losing virginity
4/8/2012If you're concerned all the racy movies and Internet porn have turned teenage boys into sex-driven lechers, this will put your fears to rest. According to a New York Times column by a sociology professor, they're a bunch of romantic saps too -- and becoming more so every year. "While American locker-room and popular culture portrays boys as mere vessels of raging hormones, research into their private experiences paints a different picture," Amy Schalet writes. Boys are becoming more romantic, she says, and behaving more "like girls" about losing their virginity. Whether it's all the emo music or those romantic comedies your girlfriends make you watch, we don't know. All we can say is we like it, boys.
