Anyone looking for a gay pride parade in Moscow has to wait till 2112
8/17/2012It looks like Russians will have to fold their rainbow flags and stash them in the back of their vodka pantries. On Friday, a Moscow court upheld its previous ruling that bans gay pride parades for the next 100 years. The Russian capital will go a full century without LGBT celebrations because, in the government’s words, the parades would cause "public disorder" (um, don't all parades do that?). Gay activist Nikolai Alexeyev, who had filed an appeal contesting Moscow's original ruling, says he’ll continue to protest until "the bans are recognized as unlawful, not only for the past, but for the future gay parades."
