World's most famous wolf killed outside Yellowstone
12/11/2012The most famous wolf in the world has been killed. A female alpha wolf known as 832F was shot legally outside Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The death has caused grief among researchers and fans of the animals and has reignited the debate between conservationists and ranchers. The wolf, which had been tagged following its birth in 2006, was among eight killed out of 88 who reside in Yellowstone. Kim Bean, the vice president of Wolves of the Rockies lamented, "She was definitely the most researched in the park. ... She's gone." Ranchers say periodic wolf hunts are necessary to protect livestock. [Source]
