Lots of Olympic sportscasters aren’t even reporting from London

8/5/2012

Covering the 2012 Olympics sounds like would be any journalist's dream job. Hanging out in London amid jubilant crowds; being a few feet from the action at beach volleyball and track events; interviewing the gold medalists … Sounds awesome, right? NBC’s Olympic sportscasters probably think so, too, but unfortunately most aren’t anywhere near London. The only things they’re close enough to catch are the pixels on the TVs they’re staring at from their cubbies in the studio where "Saturday Night Live" usually takes place. Why? Partially to save cash, but also because NBC has a limited number of credentials for London. But at least they’re getting paid to watch live Olympic events. [Source]
