Most of us who think we're multitasking are screwing up
2/28/2012You're a great multitasker, right? You're able to write that report, feed the kids, run for city council and work as the deputy director of the parks department? (Oh, wait: That last part was from last week's episode of "Parks and Recreation.")
Chances are, you're totally wrong: Only 2 percent of the population has the ability to successfully multitask -- the rest of us are just screwing up lots of stuff simultaneously, Garth Sundem writes in Psychology Today. He tells those who can multitask: "Please feel free to continue reading this post on your smartphone or tablet while you drive one-handed and one-eyed down the freeway. ... But if you're not a supertasker, the overwhelming message of science is this: just give it up already!"
Do you think you're a great multitasker?
