Prepare to spend the rest of the day exploring Mount Everest. Mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears, who has repeatedly summited Everest, worked with Microsoft (ahem) and the Royal Geographic Society to produce what at first glance looks simply like a supercrisp, highly detailed photo of the world's tallest mountain. In fact, the 2-billion-pixel image seen here is composed of 477 smaller photos, and when you click on certain areas, you can zoom in to see mountaineers braving the elements and elevation, as well as details as tiny as the writing on a prayer flag on a tent at Base Camp.
