Moving to Canada is really not worth the trouble

It’s an oft-heard lament as Election Day nears "If X wins, I’m moving to Canada." Realistically? Whichever candidate’s potential victory causes you anxiety, fleeing into the welcoming social welfare bosom of our Neighbor to the North isn’t as easy as one would imagine. Steps include: working towards a permanent residency card (requiring living in Canada for two out of five years), wait out three more years of residency to apply for citizenship, undergo a health screening, have your credit score dialed back to near zero and pay higher taxes. Said one Canadian immigration lawyer, "when push comes to shove, Americans are reluctant to give up what they have." [Source]
