Musician says 'local crackhead' helped her find stolen flutes
6/12/2012New York Philharmonic flutist Alexandra Sopp was at an Upper West Side bar in Manhattan when she realized her handbag was missing and two flutes worth $42,000 had disappeared along with it. Often, the "local crackhead" would be blamed for the theft, but Sopp says it was in fact a "local crackhead" who solved the case. Sopp says the man quickly identified the thief, and then led police to the "housing projects" where he lived. There, police recovered the flutes, and the suspect was arrested and charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
