Mystery artisan made wind-up toys of people from ‘The Wire’
2/28/2012Someone going by the handle Mister Frothee has taken the tchotchke racket to an exalted level. First there were bobbleheads of characters from "Deadwood" and Joan Holloway from "Mad Men." But Frothee's latest creations are his finest yet: wind-up toys of character from "The Wire." Each of the five figures is 2.5 inches tall, and the likenesses are spot-on, as are the little details: Omar's shotgun, the gap in Bubs' teeth (and the, um, needle?), Bunk's cigar. We're a little bummed that not all our faves are represented (Bodie? Freamon? Stringer?), but here's hoping that next on Frothee's list is "Breaking Bad."
