NASA announces new, cheapskate rover mission to Mars
12/5/2012NASA has announced plans to send another rover to Mars in 2020. In the wake of a 20 percent cut in their planetary exploration budget, the agency needs to make savings where it can, so the new rover will essentially be a remake of the Curiosity "to ensure mission costs and risks are as low as possible," said NASA in a statement. While NASA has not provided details on the cost of the next mission, it's sure to be far less than the $2.5 billion dollars it cost to send Curiosity to the red planet. [Source]
