Behold the deepest ever image of the universe
9/26/2012If the Curiosity rover's mission to Mars has rekindled your interest in astronomy, you need to check this out: NASA has unveiled an image it says offers the "deepest ever view of the universe." Dubbed Extreme Deep Field, or XDF for short, the image combines 10 years of photographs taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and depicts around 5,500 galaxies, some of them too faint and distant to be previously seen. Despite its incredible scope, XDF only captures a relatively small patch of sky — proving once again that there's a lot of stuff out there in the universe. [Source]
