National park's three-legged bear makes triumphant return
5/12/2012Officials in Alaska's Denali National Park are overjoyed to see that their resident three-legged bear is back and bounding through the grounds just as tourists begin to swarm the Last Frontier for a taste of nature. The bear, who has been dubbed "Tripawed," is missing the lower half of his right front leg. Park biologist Pat Owen said Tripawed, first spotted last September, reappeared two weeks ago and doesn't seem to have any problems getting around. It's still unclear how the bear lost its paw, but officials were mostly worried the injury would prevent him from being able to find food, dig a den and protect himself against other bears, but so far he seems to be getting along all right.
What would you name the 3-legged bear?
