NBC angers viewers by cutting short closing ceremony
8/13/2012NBC ended its Olympics coverage by staying consistent – outraging viewers with chopped up time-delayed broadcasting. The much-maligned network cut away from the triumphant closing ceremony of the London Games to instead show ... wait for it ... “Animal Practice.” Viewers were outraged that they had “a veterinarian's office comedy with plenty of horsing around” on screen instead of the grand final party of the Games, which featured British music stars such as Muse and Ray Davies. Grand finale act The Who was shown on the station, but only after the monkey business had finished. While London rocked, angry viewers took to Twitter to share their NBC-fueled frustrations, a tradition that practically became an Olympic event.
