Sandy Hook 'heckling' reports discredited as raw forum footage emerges
1/30/2013Reports that a parent of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting was heckled during a public forum on gun control have been shown to be misleading. Edited footage from the forum made it appear as though opponents of proposed gun control laws had heckled speaker Neil Heslin. Unedited footage that surfaced later shows that Heslin asked the 1,500 people who had gathered in Hartford, Conn., to discuss gun control, "why anybody in this room needs to have one of these assault-style weapons." (See it from the 13:30 mark in the video above.) Only after it became apparent Heslin was waiting for a response did gun advocates retort with "the Second Amendment!" [Source]
