Weather nerds angry over winter storm Nemo's name

2/9/2013

Winter storm Nemo is coming to the Northeast, so make sure you're prepared. You'll need some extra food and water, flashlights, some warm clothes, and some righteous indignation that someone named a blizzard Nemo. You see, up until this year, nobody named winter storms. But someone in the Weather Channel's marketing department realized that naming hurricanes made them more popular, so why not do the same for blizzards? "Because Nemo is a blatant marketing ploy, and winter storms aren't really a single 'storm,'" whined the Internet with their noses firmly stuck up in the air. It doesn't matter what you call it, though — just make sure you stay warm this weekend. [Source]
