This image was taken from NOAA's GOES-13 satellite on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 7:01 a.m. EST. Two low pressure systems came together and formed a giant nor'easter centered right over New England creating blizzards from Massachusetts to New York. (NASA/GOES Project)

Seen from space, Nemo was a white blob that ate everything but Florida

2/10/2013

Snowstorm Nemo may have blocked the view from your living room window, but it looked pretty awesome from space. This is the satellite image of the Nor’easter that whited out the Eastern Seaboard, dumping up to three feet of snow on parts of New England. The weather system was so thick with snow, you cannot make out a single geographic landmark in New England. Only plucky Florida’s peninsula lets you recognize the image as America at all. So think about that when you’re digging your car out this weekend. This storm sucked for us here on Earth, but it gave the unmanned satellites a pretty great show. [Source]
