Israeli PM Netanyahu won't get to meet with Obama on his US visit

9/11/2012

Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have a frosty relationship. A bromance this is not. Their testy dynamic is likely to grow more strained after Obama said he would not meet with Netanyahu when the latter arrives in the U.S. later this month to visit the United Nations. The men differ in their views on handling Iran’s nuclear program. Netanyahu appears increasingly ready to attack Iran, while Obama’s preference is for a diplomatic solution. On Tuesday, Netanyahu made heated remarks that those who refuse to set a “red line” for Iran’s program “don't have a moral right to place a red light before Israel.” White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said, however, that it's just a matter of the president not being in New York at the same time as Netanyahu.
