Being neurotic and conscientious could make you healthier overall

12/29/2012

According to a new study, being a neurotic, obsessive mess could actually have health benefits. Researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center have found that people who describe themselves as "neurotic" as well as "conscientious," those extremely well-organized, mildly obnoxious folks who have everything planned out and somehow manage to always arrive on time, have lower levels of Interleukin 6, a marker associated with inflammation and chronic disease. It was also noted that neurotic types have lower body-mass index score and fewer chronic health conditions. But the conscientious factor plays a big role. Without it, researchers say neuroticism can be an unhealthy trait. [Source]
