Never heard a 911 call after a bear attack? You're welcome

6/13/2012

An Alaska man is counting his lucky stars (and intact limbs) for having his cellphone in his pocket last Sunday when he was mauled by a bear outside of Anchorage. "I'm bleeding bad," a panic-stricken Ben Radakovich told the dispatcher in a frantic 911 call after scaling a 30-foot tree. "I can hear the brown bear. It's still huffing in the trees [below]." For nearly two hours, Radakovich remained in the pine tree until rescuers arrived. In shock, bleeding and shivering, he was transported by chopper to a nearby hospital. None of his injuries was life-threatening, though he required "a lot of stitches" — and probably a stiff drink.
