New bride drowns while shooting pictures in her wedding dress

8/25/2012

An unthinkable mishap has resulted in the river drowning of a newly married Canadian woman north of Montreal. The 30-year-old woman, married in June, was belatedly having wedding photos taken in a section of shallow water on the Ouareau River near Dorwin Falls when the increasing weight of her saturated gown pulled her into deeper water. (A stock photo is shown above.) The photographer and another person both tried to pull her out before she was swept away, but the combined weight of the woman and the soaked dress was too much. Her body was recovered from the bottom of a 20-foot deep section of the river four hours later.
