New city policy likely means lots of weed at Lollapalooza
8/4/2012Chicago stands to make a lot of money this weekend as two events collide: Lollapalooza and a new policy to ticket pot possession. No, you’re not dreaming: Chicago has decriminalized marijuana (kind of) in time for their biggest musical festival and can issue potheads $250 tickets instead of arresting them. Except for this catch: Lollapalooza is on Park District land, not city property, so the Chicago police have said the ticketing provision won’t apply inside the festival, and you could still be arrested. But as none of the 270,000 attendees were arrested last year, we’re assuming police will be happy to hand out fat tickets rather than haul potheads to the station. [Source]
