"New Healthway," a hygiene textbook aimed at 11- and 12-year-olds, says that people who eat meat "easily cheat, lie, forget promises" and "turn to violence and commit sex crimes." The book is from S. Chand, one of India's leading publishers, and many academics are concerned about the text, arguing that its heavy-handed advocacy of a vegetarian diet is "poisonous for children."
