David Beckham models in his new underwear ad campaign for H&M.

Silver statues of Becks showing off the new underwear have been put up around Manhattan.

Beckham's underwear ads have gotten scores of viewers to his Facebook page.

But the 10-foot silver statues have gotten mixed reviews from fans and marketing experts.

Facebook comments on the photos range from "I'm in love!" and "My new wallpaper :-)))" to "What a terrible poser!"

These statues of David leave a little more to the imagination than Michelangelo's does, but not a lot.

This one begs the question of what on earth has been stuffed into the crotch of these underpants?

Fans who upload their statue pics to the #HMBeckham instagram are entered in a drawing whose prizes include autographed David Beckham underwear.

Even the full-body Bodywear on Becks doesn't leave much to the imagination.

There are few secrets to selling underwear, and fewer still when it's David Beckham doing the selling. The soccer superstar/sex symbol's latest round of ads for his line of "bodywear" for H&M leaves precious little to the imagination, and that's just dandy for the swooning crowd going gaga on his Facebook page. Naturally, there are critics, like marketing veteran Donnetta Campbell who said of the sculpted briefs, "It looks like an alien porn shot, and you're thinking, 'Is that all him?'" As a bonus for Becks buffs, H&M is placing shiny 10-foot statues of their man and their briefs in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
