Have those babies soon, rats, because NYC is about to sterilize you

Female rats can reportedly produce 84 bouncing baby rodents every year, so New York City has decided to sterilize them. Rather than conducting thousands of tiny hysterectomies, the city contacted SenesTech, an Arizona-based company that makes an edible product that can render rats infertile within days. The sinister snack, called ContraPest, would be placed in the trash rooms on subway platforms, (apparently a favorite dining spot for rats), and the "bait boxes" would stay until 75 percent of the current rat population is reduced. And the product doesn't appear to have a negative affect on the rats. "As one person said to me, 'Wow, don't you worry? I mean a whole bunch of large menopausal rats — aren't they angry?'"
